2009 Match Play Championship
This summer's Match Play tournament has reached the finals.  After a hard-fought battle last Sunday with current club champ Steve Alberts, Eric Larson came away with a 2 & 1 victory in the last semi-final match.  Eric then went up against Richard Finch and took him to the 17th hole, before Finchy prevailed 2 & 1.  In the other semi-final, Ron McGlohn dispatched veteran Howie Smith
3 & 1.  The 36-hole final match between Finch & McGlohn was played today, Wednesday July 8th.  McGlohn held his own through the first 18, but Finch pulled away to win 6 & 5, and take the 2009 title.  The 2008 Match Play Champion, Neil Waker, was not able to defend his title this year.

2009 Snyder Cup Matches
After a solid start in four-ball last weekend at The Mountain, our Men's Club took a 6-2 lead to The Cedars at Salmon Creek for the singles matches.  President Jerry Williams was upbeat saying, "....all we need is 6 1/2 points and we'll bring that Cup back home were it belongs".  With 16 points up for grabs on Saturday, it seemed likely that our boys would prevail.  Little did we know, but R.B. Musson, The Cedars team Captain, must have done his best Ben Crenshaw imitation the night before!  Even though it is Green Mountain's team shirts that have drawn controversey (Remember the wine colored shirts with framed photos of golf legends...well, GMGC's shirts have been mentioned in the same breath with oiled-alleys and 16 pound balls!), in this drama we played the role of the Europeans.  Needing 10 1/2 of the possible 16 points in order to win, they took 12 of the 16 matches and The Cedars retains The Snyder Cup for another year, winning 14 points to 10.2009 Club Champ - Wade Bowyer
