Dale Schoner For Your Swing - May 2010
It's Spring Training time?
By Dale Schoner, PGA
Take a lesson from the Boys of Summer and take some time to warm up slowly for the season. Baseball players take a few weeks to get their bodies into shape for the season by going to spring training. This is your golf spring training time.
1. Go to the putting green to warm up slowly and begin to try shots from 3 feet to 6 feet and gradually lengthen the putts until you can control the distance and direction.
2. Go to the chipping green and begin chipping shots with a 7 or 8 iron about 20 feet and increase the distance to 40 feet as you are able to control distance and direction.
3. Go to the driving range and begin hitting shots at a target of 50 yards and gradually increase distance until you are at your maximum distance.
4. Go to the driving range several times per week to increase muscle tone and consistency.
5. Now you are ready to Play Ball! That's why we practice so we can be called out of the Bullpen and join the Game!
