Welcome Dave Ramsay

Green Mountain Golf Course has welcomed new Head Professional, David Ramsay, the former head professional/manager of three Western Washington golf courses.  Dave began his new role at Green Mountain GC in March.

Dave was a former resident of the Vancouver area for 10 years when he moved here from his hometown of Boise in order to begin college.  He first became involved in the golf business at Heron Lakes Golf Club, and he and his wife Liisa eventually decided to pursue a career in golf by moving to southern California to finish his college education.  After receiving his business degree in Golf Facility Operations/Management and Golf Instruction, Dave and Liisa returned to the Pacific Northwest when he became the golf professional at the Port Ludlow Resort, an Olympic Peninsula golf course consistently rated as one of Washington's top 10 courses.  "California was great for a couple of years, but we were really set on getting back to the Northwest, and the Olympic Peninsula was a great fit for us", Dave says.  In his time at Port Ludlow, Dave received recognition in the Puget Sound area for, among other positives, strengthening all golf operations, dramatically building up the player programs and tournaments at the Resort, resurrecting a struggling golf school program and for his ease in effectively teaching all types and levels of players.

After seven years as the Professional at Port Ludlow, Dave left to work briefly as the Professional/Manager at Discovery Bay Golf Club in Port Townsend and then as the same for three years at Riverside Golf Club in Chehalis (which included directing the recovery from two severe floods).

Now Dave, his wife (who was raised in Vancouver) and their three children are happy to be back in the Vancouver area with family and friends.  "It's a great place to live and we were hoping to find our way back at some point.  We've missed being here and look forward to building new relationships.  The Clark County golf community is great, and Green Mountain  has a lot of potential.  I'm excited to work with the management, staff and customers to help it grow."

Active in giving individual golf instruction, group clinics, and golf schools, Dave has "occasionally" still found time to play, winning or finishing high in several Washington competitions and Pro-Ams.  "I've always loved teaching, but like most dads it's tough to keep your game in shape when you have a young family.  Now that my youngest kids are showing interest in golf, I am looking forward to spending more time with them on the course, working on the game together.  Green Mountain has a lot of great family-golf opportunities that will be fun to work on and present to the community."
